ADMI’s Acting Fundamentals Certificate is designed to introduce fundamental performance techniques to students with no prior acting skills or experience. Through a practice-based approach, students will explore the fundamentals of acting, including movement, acting techniques, scene study and prepare for the industry.
Students will use physical explorations and observations of scenes, improvisations, and the development of a play to build a basic understanding and practice of acting as well as developing a range of techniques to create characters and tell stories through their body.
Students will cast in a play that will be performed for ADMI students and staff, and any external guests. The rehearsal for this play will take place outside class hours and can be directed by the course instructor or an outside director. In this play students will be evaluated concerning the application of the skills learned and developed through the course.
The modules of this course will run in parallel, requiring 10 hours of in-class dedication, extensive rehearsal and research time, and work to be done outside the session hours.
Additionally, the modules will extend for 14 weeks, and there will be two weeks of exclusive preparation for the final play.
By the end of this course, students will be able to express themselves through their bodies, build characters to perform in plays and have the experience to continue building their careers towards acting and other communication fields.
