ADMI Film Students Produce the 2022 Miss World Kenya Gala

The 2022 Miss World Kenya Gala provided remarkable industry experience for ADMI students.

One of our guiding principles at ADMI is our ability to integrate work and learning. We believe in learning by doing. Our model is unique in many ways, one of the most important being that our students get to learn by solving real problems and working on exciting client briefs!

This makes them industry-ready from day one; they’re exposed to learning that is practical and designed to prepare them to thrive in the sometimes complex and uncertain world of employment after graduation. So at ADMI, it’s important for us to empower our students to earn, learn and grow.

ADMI recently partnered with Miss World Kenya to celebrate 50 years of the pageant’s existence in the country. As the official production partners of the 2022 Miss World Kenya, we set out to enhance the awareness of the pageant through a series of engaging and inspirational videos.

This year’s theme was ‘A Crown of Impact’, what better way to tell stories of the pageant’s impact than through videos? We partnered with our students to showcase the transformative impact that Miss World has had on hundreds of Kenyan youth over the years.

We documented the journey of this year’s contestants, all the way from the boot camp to the gala where model Chantou Kwamboka was crowned Miss World Kenya for the year 2022/23.

We kicked off the series with a video of the official launch the franchise directors talked to us about the true essence and mission of the pageant. We also heard from franchise partners and previous winners, encouraging this year’s contestants.

Without a doubt, leaving our studios and entering a real work setting of this magnitude was thrilling for the students.

“It’s been a very fulfilling week for me.”, said Kaloki, a final-year Film and TV production student. “I’ve gotten amazing opportunities to work on real-life projects at ADMI but this is the biggest one yet. It’s a great way to learn, I’ve managed to put into practice everything that we’ve been taught and now I feel ready to run my own production from start to finish. Let’s do this again!”

While Josephine said, “Being able to work with visionary pros has given me the confidence to pursue filmmaking as a career. They’ve mentored me this week and helped me to reflect on my talent and skills.”

Our students are not just in lecture halls, we introduce them to real-life work environments to build their portfolios with relevant industry experience. We believe that with the right skilling and support, through targeted workforce development programs, Africa’s youth can fill the global skills gap.

Miss World Kenya

We were pleased to partner with Miss World Kenya because they share in our commitment to empowering youth. Over the years, they have transformed the lives of thousands of contestants by training them in life skills that have managed to get them employment opportunities in the transport, tourism, fashion and advertising industries.

ADMI sends hearty congratulations to all the contestants who participated in this year’s pageant, we wish you all the best in the future. Kudos to our students who continue to actively turn their passions into successful professions.
